Our 8th edition at Calvert Cliffs State Park on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay
Back again in 2025!
The Miocene Epic Endurance Challenge is a natural-surface trail race on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay in Calvert County, Maryland. Our 8th edition will take place March 29th, 2025. Registration will open this fall! The race consists of an approximate 5 mile loop where runners will have up to 6 hours to run as much or as little as they would like. All runners receive a Miocene Epic premium item, Miocene Epic swag bag, a scenic, well-marked loop course, helpful and supportive volunteers, amazing food options including vegetarian and vegan meals prepared fresh by a professional chef, fully stocked aid station after each loop, post-run meal, & more!.

Every runner receives:
Miocene Epic swag bag
Miocene Epic logo premium item (we’ve given beach towels, coolers, mugs, and running accessories in the past!)
Fully stocked aid station with sweets, salty snacks, drinks, fresh breakfast/lunch foods (pancakes, fried potatoes, bacon, fruit, avocado rice, grilled cheese, etc.) on every loop
Hot meal for lunch/finish (we've done wood fired pizza, roasted elote, chili, fries, bimbimbap, etc. in the past)
Podium awards for top 3 men/women in the 6 hour open category plus age group awards
Runners completing 6+ loops will win a Miocene trilobite medal
A beautiful course and plenty of room to set up your own tent, chair, cooler, etc for a personal aid/rest station between loops.
Virtual Option & More
We are offering a virtual option for anyone unable to run in person. Runners who do the in-person or virtual event will receive the same swag and finishers items. Virtual runners swag will be shipped directly to you at no additional cost!
Calvert Cliffs State Park is located at 10540 H. G. Trueman Road, Lusby, MD, 20657. Each loop begins and ends at the picnic pavilion. The race starts at 9am and ends at 3pm. The park opens at dawn (~7am) leaving runners plenty of time to park, check in, and relax before the start.
Runners are responsible for paying the park day-use admission fee. Maryland residents pay $5/vehicle; out-of-state pay $7/vehicle.
